Treat Norwich: Making Compassionate Healthcare Accessible to All

Purpose in Practice Series

Throughout 2026, we’re showcasing our purpose-driven clients making a difference to people and planet. This series embodies our company’s purpose: “To transform accountancy from a black box into a collaborative partnership — empowering purpose-driven businesses and reshaping a profession where people, planet and lasting impact come first.”

This is the next in our series profiling TBLA clients whose work centres on environmental stewardship and social impact. Following our features on the Agroforestry Research Trust, Good Small Farms, Investors for Purpose, PfBIO, the Apricot Centre, Grass Roots Remedies, New Routes Integration and Six Inches of Soil, we’re proud to share our partnership with Treat Norwich.

Improving Quality of Life Through Accessible Care

Treat Norwich exists to improve quality of life by providing accessible, compassionate health and wellbeing support. Their aim is to create a space where people feel genuinely listened to and cared for, and where health is approached holistically rather than focusing only on symptoms.

Founded by acupuncturist Rebecca Geanty, Treat Norwich has grown from a simple vision into a thriving Health & Wellbeing Clinic offering over 50 therapies and services. But what truly sets them apart is their unwavering commitment to making holistic healthcare accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances.

Breaking Down Barriers: The Multi-Bed Acupuncture Clinic

In 2011, Rebecca established Norwich Acupuncture Rooms with a pioneering model inspired by how acupuncturists work in China. She recognised a fundamental problem: whilst acupuncture works most effectively when sessions are regular, the cost of private sessions puts this crucial frequency out of reach for many people.

The multi-bed clinic offers an elegant solution. In a bright, calm space with three treatment couches set between long curtains for privacy, practitioners treat three patients simultaneously. Because acupuncture needles take 20-45 minutes to take effect, it’s possible to treat one patient, leave them to relax, and move on to another. This efficient model significantly reduces costs whilst maintaining quality of individual care.

The result? Community multi-bed sessions cost £42, with an unwaged rate of £36 – compared to £55-90 for private sessions. In today’s cost of living crisis, this pricing model cannot be overstated: regular private acupuncture could cost £200-300 per month, whilst Treat’s multi-bed model brings this down to £84-168 for fortnightly or weekly sessions. As one patient shared: “I continued to have regular treatment in the community multi-bed clinic, which meant I could afford it.”

A Clinic Born from Vision and Hard Work

Treat’s journey reflects Rebecca’s long-held vision of creating a space where practitioners from different disciplines could work together under one roof. In 2016, she opened Treat Norwich, offering a cross-section of complementary therapies. Then in January 2022, together with her partner David, she took on an ambitious renovation – transforming the old Dyers Arms pub on Lawson Road into Treat’s current home.

Nine months of restoration turned the run-down building into a warm, welcoming space with four beds in what was once the bar area. The renovation prioritised accessibility, with ground-floor treatment rooms and disabled facilities ensuring people with diverse needs can access services with dignity.

Whole-Person Healthcare

Treat Norwich now offers over 50 services including acupuncture, fertility support, pregnancy support, physiotherapy, massage and complementary therapies. They support people through many stages of life and health – from managing pain, stress and hormonal concerns to preparing for pregnancy and aiding recovery.

A particular focus is women’s health and fertility. As Rebecca explains, health challenges rarely affect just one part of a person’s life, which is why Treat offers care that is thoughtful, joined-up and personal. Their practitioners – an independent collective of highly trained holistic and medical health workers – all share Treat’s mission: “To help as many people as we can to enhance the quality of their lives.”

This isn’t charity – it’s a sustainable business model that recognises healthcare should be accessible to everyone. The multi-bed approach creates a positive community spirit whilst maintaining professional standards and practitioner viability.

Why Treat Chose TBLA

“We chose TBLA because your values aligned so closely with our own,” Rebecca explains. “It was important to us to work with an accountancy practice that understands business can be a force for good, and that success is not measured purely in financial terms, but also in the positive impact a business has on the people and community it serves.”

This values alignment runs deep. Both organisations believe that essential services – whether healthcare or financial support – should be delivered with compassion and accessibility at their core, not as afterthoughts.

What TBLA Has Done for Treat Norwich

TBLA has brought clarity, structure and reassurance to the financial side of the business. Having trusted support with planning, financial oversight and decision-making has been hugely valuable, particularly as the clinic has grown and evolved through significant transitions – from the Capitol House location to the ambitious pub renovation project, and through the expansion of services and practitioners. TBLA provides bookkeeping, VAT and payroll services to Treat in addition to tax planning and accounts production.

How This Has Helped Their Mission

Working with TBLA has given Treat greater confidence and stability behind the scenes, which in turn has helped them keep their focus on the clinic, their clients and the quality of care they provide. That support has made it easier for them to make informed decisions, develop the business in a sustainable way and continue building a service that genuinely improves quality of life for people in their local community.

As Rebecca puts it: “That support has made it easier for us to make informed decisions, develop the business in a sustainable way and continue building a service that genuinely improves quality of life for people in our local community.”

Recognition and Impact

Treat is a Norfolk Small Business Award winner and recognised as one of the best acupuncture providers in Norwich. But their most meaningful recognition comes from patients – hundreds of five-star Google reviews and testimonials from people whose lives have been transformed through accessible, compassionate care.

From patients whose chronic conditions improved through regular multi-bed sessions, to the woman who credits affordable treatment with helping her achieve her dream of having a baby, to those managing severe pain who credit Treat with keeping them mobile – the impact is measured in improved quality of life.

Looking Ahead

As Treat Norwich continues to expand their services and welcome new practitioners to their collective, we’re honoured to provide the financial foundation that allows Rebecca, David and their team to focus on what they do best: creating a warm, welcoming space where people feel genuinely listened to and cared for.

Their journey reinforces what we’ve always believed: that investing in people, planet and lasting impact isn’t just possible – it’s essential for building the compassionate, accessible services our communities desperately need.
