Welcome to Triple Bottom Line Accounting, where we dare to challenge the status quo and envision a world where businesses prioritise more than just profit. We are a small accountancy practice dedicated to setting a new standard for the industry by supporting companies that align with our values – those that care about the environment, people, and a sustainable future.
Why We Chose the Name “Triple Bottom Line Accounting”:
Our name, inspired by the concept introduced by John Elkington in 1994, reflects our commitment to the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) – an approach to business that values social, environmental, and financial impact equally. We believe in going beyond the traditional, profit-driven mindset and adopting a more holistic, responsible approach to accountancy. More recently, in a product recall, John Elkington has refocused the Triple Bottom Line: Responsibility, Resilience and Regeneration. A reframing that we support and strive for in our work and with our clients.
Who We Work With:
Our clientele includes businesses working in regenerative agriculture, environmental conservation, ecology, permaculture, green energy, social change, community interest companies, charities and those striving to make a difference towards a new future where environmental and social change matters. We are passionate about supporting companies seeking to impact the world positively.
At Triple Bottom Line Accounting, we offer services to help businesses adapt and mitigate the challenges that ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors bring. These include:
- Net Zero Measurement: We help businesses and other organisations measure their carbon footprint, develop a comprehensive plan to achieve net-zero emissions, and communicate their progress to stakeholders. We offer interactive workshops focused on employee education and engagement in this topic.
- Environmental and Social Impact Narrative Service: We extend the above service to the measurement and analysis of all environmental and social impacts and help our clients create an authentic narrative, including plans to improve their impact on people and the planet.
- ESG Advisory: We provide guidance on integrating ESG principles into business operations and decision-making, thus ensuring long-term sustainability and resilience.
Our Unique Business Model:
Our approach to accountancy might be considered unconventional. However, we are proud to be different. Our margins are lower, and we offer a 4-day week, allowing our team to maintain a healthy work-life balance. We advocate for change, write about the challenges of being different, and demonstrate to others how they can be proactive in this space. Instead of competing with other accounting practices, we believe in collaboration. We can share knowledge, resources, and best practices by working together, ultimately driving the entire industry towards a more sustainable future. We regularly publish in leading publications and websites to accelerate the accountancy world towards taking up their role in helping to change to a new sustainable future.
Starting the Conversation:
Some may struggle to position us within the traditional accounting landscape. However, our name – Triple Bottom Line Accounting – provides an excellent conversation starter to introduce others to a world beyond profit. Whether you are looking for a fresh change in your career or are setting up a new business venture and need help and support, we would love to hear from you. We invite you to join us on this journey as we continue to challenge conventional thinking and redefine the role of accountancy in the 21st century.

As part of the process, she has carried out an impact analysis of the TBLA social and governance profile and a whole company carbon calculation with accompanying target setting, carbon reduction action plan and impact narrative. Fran is now working alongside the growing ESG team to help more SMEs plan for Net Zero around the UK. Fran is also on the board of the Norwich Business Climate Leaders hoping to accelerate the transition to Net Zero.
