Our commitment to the Triple Bottom Line

People. Planet. Prosperity.
And the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion that make all three possible — for our clients, our team, and the communities we serve.

WHO WE ARE

About Triple Bottom Line Accounting

We are more than just an accountancy practice. We are innovators at the forefront of sustainable change in finance — delivering comprehensive accounting, taxation, and advisory services with a net-zero and sustainability dimension built in from the start.

Our name, and our entire approach, is inspired by the Triple Bottom Line framework — the idea that a business should measure its success not just by financial return, but equally by its social and environmental impact. TBLA was founded to bring this thinking into the heart of everyday accountancy, making it practical, accessible and genuinely useful for purpose-driven businesses.

The Triple Bottom Line concept was introduced by John Elkington in 1994. It challenged the idea that financial profit was the only measure of business success, proposing instead that companies account equally for People, Planet and — at TBLA — Prosperity.

Wellbeing

People

Fair, beneficial and good for employees, communities and society. We believe business has a responsibility to the people it touches — clients, team, community and beyond.

Accounting for People and Planet

Planet

Minimising environmental harm and giving back more to nature than we take. We embed a net-zero and sustainability dimension into everything we do — for ourselves and our clients.

Prosperity

Prosperity

Not just profit. Prosperity means having enough financial security to thrive without compromising social and environmental justice — purpose-driven living, creating a world of well-being, harmony with nature, and the freedom to live meaningfully.

Our Purpose

To transform accountancy from a black box into a collaborative partnership — empowering purpose-driven businesses and reshaping a profession where people, planet and lasting impact come first.

Our purpose is rooted in our core values of Caring, Professional, Progressive and Accountable, and sits at the heart of our mission and vision for the profession. Read our Mission, Vision & Values →

Our JEDI Commitment

Justice · Equity · Diversity · Inclusion

At TBLA, we believe financial knowledge shouldn’t be a privilege. Our commitment to JEDI is inseparable from our commitment to the Triple Bottom Line — because genuine Prosperity, for People and Planet, can only be built on justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.

The Triple Bottom Line concept was introduced by John Elkington in 1994. It challenged the idea that financial profit was the only measure of business success, proposing instead that companies account equally for People, Planet and — at TBLA — Prosperity.

J

JUSTICE

The accountancy profession holds real power: the power to open doors, illuminate options, and help people and organisations make the most of what they have. Too often, that power is unevenly distributed. As accountants, we have a responsibility to help dismantle the barriers that prevent individuals, communities and organisations from accessing the support they need to thrive. We use our expertise, our time and our voice to work towards Prosperity — for our clients, and beyond them.

Prosperity means having enough financial security or economic sustainability to thrive without compromising social and environmental justice. It’s about purpose-driven living, giving back more to nature than we take, and creating a world where individuals and communities enjoy well-being, harmony with nature, and the freedom to live meaningfully.

E

EQUITY

Fair treatment means different support for different people. We commit to recognising the barriers others face and providing what each person genuinely needs to flourish — in our team and in our work with clients.

D

DIVERSITY

A practice that thinks differently serves clients better. We are committed to building and sustaining a team that is genuinely open to all backgrounds, identities, experiences and ways of thinking.

I

INCLUSION

Every voice matters. We work to ensure that no one in our team or among our clients is talked over, left out or left behind.

Our commitment in practice

We act on this commitment through annual staff surveys, targeted regular client surveys, equitable pay, inclusive recruitment and community partnerships. As a certified B Corp, we publish our progress and hold ourselves accountable. Read more on our Positive Impact page →

Commitments & Credentials

Business as a Force for Good

As a certified B Corporation, we are part of a global movement using business to build a more inclusive, sustainable economy. We are proud to stand by the B Corp Declaration of Interdependence.

Declaration of Interdependence

TBLA envisions a global economy that uses business as a force for good — comprised of purpose-driven companies that create benefit for all stakeholders, not just shareholders.

  • That we must be the change we seek in the world.
  • That all business ought to be conducted as if people and place mattered.
  • That, through their products, practices, and prosperity, businesses should aspire to do no harm and benefit all.
  • To do so requires that we act with the understanding that we are each dependent upon another and thus responsible for each other and future generations.
